A smart waste management project has won 30,000 AED in the just concluded IoT & AI Pioneers Competition sponsored by du. 

Created by Nadia Al Shizawi, the project beat Vitacam, a vitamin deficiency detection system by Ahmed Saif Aldeen and an AI healthcare assistant platform entered by Dina AbdelRehman.  

The competition was organised by UAE 5G Innovation Gate (U5GIG) - which is powered by Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) - and Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Campus (Dtec).

du’s IoT & AI Pioneers Competition attracted 43 initial project applications. From this, 10 teams were selected for shortlisted interviews, with six heading to the final after an interview and evaluation process.
