FDC International signs as a distributor for Energizer Mobile

Regional distributor to supply channel partners in the Middle East and Africa with the vendor's mobile phones and accessories

Dubai-based IT distributor FDC International, has announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with Energizer Mobile for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) market.

In terms of the agreement which is effective from January 2019, FDC has been granted rights to distribute the vendor's feature and smartphone range, and mobile accessories to power retailers, independent retailers, IT dealers and resellers across MEA.

According to FDC, the decision to partner with Energizer Mobile is part of the company's broader strategy to diversify its product portfolio in line with the changes that are happening in the traditional technology distribution segment.

Safe said the company has careful selected to partner with Energizer because the brand is well known in the mobile accessories market. "After looking at various options, it became clear to us that Energizer fitted well and was complementary to our existing portfolio," she said. "In Energizer, FDC has brought on board, a vendor partner that has a comprehensive array of smartphones including the rugged range targeted at heavy duty industries."

She added that by signing Energizer, FDC is demonstrating to its channel partners that the journey it started five years ago to diversify its business away from component to more value and mobile products is working. "We remain optimistic that the deal with Energizer will open up opportunities for our channel partners in the broader MEA geography," he said.

Safe said FDC has identified Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the broader GCC as key markets where it would like to develop the business. "We have invested resources in-country," she said.

Badradine El Jazouly, sales director, Middle East, Africa, Pakistan and Turkey at Energizer Mobile, said FDC International was selected because of its solid track record in broadline distribution.

El Jazouly said FDC is a perfect fit for the partner the company was looking to work with to develop the mobile and accessories business. "Given that competition in the mobile and accessories space is tough, we were looking for a partner that has strong channel credentials. FDC meets all the requirements and we are looking forward to developing this business which has so much potential in the market.

He added that Energizer Mobile and FDC International will work closely to support partner business development initiatives and efforts across MEA. "We believe our brand has so much potential to grow and the appointment of FDC is the first step in getting us to raise visibility and awareness in the channel," he said.
